Starting out as a rainy yet warm Melbourne morning, the day heated up just as competition did! We saw all of Melbourne’s weather but still managed to get through a very long day. Thanks to everyone who helped with our steeplechase and hurdle duty, with special thanks to Jess for lap scoring.

It was nice to see Chris Dunt competing locally after competing at Ballarat the previous week. It is very convenient to be able to compete at other venues and score points for the club and we commend those who have taken the opportunity. That being said, we do miss the club togetherness very much. Hopefully, it will result in us coming together to compete once again, in the Association Finals!

As well as the Athletics Victoria Shields Round 6 competition, there was also a professional running meet competition held on the same day by the Victorian Athletics League out at Meadowglen. Our very own Noddy Angelakos had the fastest time after the heats of the 200m Meadowglen Gift, running a sizzling 20.86sec. Noddy went into his semi-final, as the firm favourite to win the $2000 race. Unfortunately, he tore his hamstring while in front with 30m to go.

Noddy is expected to spend 3 weeks on the sideline and return to competition later in December to contest the coveted Bay Sheffield Gift in Adelaide.
